Martin

After many years of taking on decorating, home restoration and shop fitting projects for family and friends while working full time in other business areas, in 2020 I decided to re-train to become a fully qualified painter and decorator and set up my own business, ReNew, enabling me to finally work full time in the role I’m most passionate about. In order to ensure that the business is up to date with the best methods and tools, I’ve also gone on to complete specialist advanced training in the latest spray painting application techniques with some of the market's leading professionals, gaining two City & Guilds assured qualifications.

Kirsty

My wife, Kirsty, has18 years experience working in a variety of administration, payroll and accounts roles along with qualifications in Payroll, Accounting and Business Management. She’s therefore taken on all of the ‘behind the scenes’ roles to help make my small business a success.

Abi

Our niece, Abi, is a huge asset to our team. After doing some work experience with us over the summer of 2021, when she left school, she decided she would take us up on the offer of an apprenticeship with us. She’s now completed 3 years of studying a painting and decorating apprenticeship at New College Durham, while working with us 3 days a week, and passed her exams in October 2024 to become a fully qualified decorator. She was awarded New College Durham’s Painting and Decorating Apprentice of the Year 2023 and the Durham City Freemen’s Painting and Decorating Apprentice of the Year 2024. In 2022 she also completed advanced courses and gained two City & Guilds assured qualifications in spray painting application techniques.
