Living Room Loveliness.
Even in a freshly plastered room, there can still be areas that need an extra bit of tlc.
In this beautiful living room that we completed this week, the original period coving and skirting boards were in desperate need of a little love.
The damaged paint on top of the skirting boards was scraped back and removed before sanding back years of paint to flatten the finish. The damaged areas were then filled using @toupretuk wood filler, and the full skirts sanded again with a fine grit paper.
The coving had unfortunately suffered from years of settlement movement and was severely cracked in places, including some areas that were sitting proud of the rest of the surfaces.
After painstakingly removing any damaged paint so that we could address the issues beneath, any loose plaster was removed, and hairline cracks raked out. All damaged areas were then treated with an application of Toupret fill-flex, then surface skimmed using Toupret joint, skim and fill to rebuild to their original glory before a full sand of all of the coving with a 180 grit flex pad.
All gaps between walls, ceiling, and woodwork were then levelled off using decorator's caulk ready for final stages.
The walls and ceiling were then finished in @tikkurila_uk Optiva3 to give that beautiful, flat matt durable finish, tinted to 'Wine Dark' and 'Wevet' respectively, then the woodwork finished using Tikkurila Helmi 10, tinted to 'Railings' (all Farrow & Ball shades)
