Solberge Hall - Grand Staircase

In July of 2024 we had the pleasure of starting work on the grand staircase at the beautiful North Yorkshire wedding and events venue Solberge Hall.

There was an overwhelming volume of prep to do, including removing the old wallpaper, preparing the ceilings, walls and panels, treating areas of damp ingress, taking the handrail back to bare wood to be re-stained, removing years of thick, brittle paint from all the spindles and woodwork, copious amounts of filling and sanding with a fine grit paper to get to a point ready for paint - but that done we were then able to re-finish the banister in a walnut stain, then cover to protect it. We then used a combination of airless spraying and rolling to get the best possible finish for the dramatic paint transformation. We then applied eight separate murals to the panelling to complete the look.

The albums below show the before photos, the works in progress and the end results as we completed the amazing transformation in this stunning building.
